It’s official: I am over my makeup haul-ing phase. I used to go gaga over lipsticks and foundations, but now, whenever I browse through the beauty department online or off, I go straight for skin care. Maybe it’s just this heat or maybe it’s the age — whatever it is, I have started loving pampering my skin!
The product name’s a mouthful, I know!
Lately, I’ve been on the lookout for one of the most basic daily skin care — sun screen. Now, I have professed my love for Biore UV Perfect Face Milk SPF50+ PA+++ in my January Favourites, but three bottles in, I realized that it has a strong alcohol smell. It’s quite off-putting for someone who’s a bit sensitive to smells. I’m not sure if they changed the formula, but I decided to explore some other options.
Two cents is a beauty blog series that doles out initial thoughts on newly-purchased products.
Yes, dear reader, I am still alive! *Hallelujah chorus* As per usual, I got caught up in major priorities, and forgot to blog again
The past months, I have been on the down low with makeup, I’ve been sticking to 3 makeup items on most days (Nyx Pore Filler, lipstick on the cheeks, lips, and sometimes eye crease, and made-up brows — if you’re curious), and just relying mainly on layered skin care — sun screen, glow cream, under eye cream. So it’s no wonder that on one of my planned hauls, most of the items are for moi skin.
My Favourite Things is a blog link-up by Eireen and Raisa about well, our favourite things. It can be anything — a book, makeup stuff, food, places, gadgets, website, people — and it can be as few or as many as you’d like.
Meeehhn, I haven’t done this in ages. I checked, and my last entry for this series was for February of last year! 😮
Well, to be fair, 2015 was a year of extreme experimentation — I kept purchasing stuff and had barely enough time to really try it out and see if I liked it, because surprise — here’s another package for me! I did a little detox towards the end of the past year, had a little Marie Kondo moment, and promised to only keep things that “spark joy”.
So here I am, kicking off the year with a pledge to fully obliterate the hoard monster in me, and to have enough space and time to enjoy the things around me — things that are truly my favourites.
Lipstick Lab is a gallery of the author’s lipstick mix discoveries. It’s a showcase, of some sort, for her love of math, colors, and lipstick
Since the start of the year, I’ve been constantly reaching for nude colors for my lips. Gone were the days where I’d sport a bold lip color… Maybe it’s age or maybe I’m just settling into what I think looks good on me :3
Today’s mix is called Regina because it’s dark and sultry and well, I’ve been watching reruns of Once Upon A Time and y’all know how I usually gravitate towards villains!
Sarah Kay once said that everyone has their own truths — it doesn’t even have to be factual — and that those truths can be used to tell their own stories. Hear me out in my little story telling session.
It’s almost always a connotation that when you become a parent, you lose time for yourself. You may even forget to wash your hair or eat lunch and you may have to pend your hobbies. But over the past year, I’ve come to realize that as much as parenthood is about unconditional love towards your child and partner, it’s not always an outward projection. It’s also about being attune to the creaks and rumbles of your body, understanding the root of your actions, forgiving your own mistakes and wholly embracing who you are. As my sister would put it: “If you can’t take care of yourself, how will you take care of others?”
Whatever it is that you parent — be it a child, an animal, even a plant — it’s nice to think that the whole experience of investing effort, time and emotion towards your child also helps you grow and nurture yourself.
Happy new year everybody! *confetti*
I know I’ve been AWOL from this blog for quite some time, but that’s because I’ve bathed into this wonderful thing called ze holidays. If you’re single and already think that the holidays is such a busy time of the year, try being a mom and you’ll find it even crazier! But it’s all fun, our little boy definitely enjoyed the long break wiz mommeh and daddeh.
Err, okay, back to beauty blogging! I’m going to start off this year with one of my favorites from 2015 — Miami Fever. If you don’t know yet, Kathleen Lights collaborated with Ofra Cosmetics and made this go-hor-geous liquid lipstick.
